Prof. Peidong Yang
Yang, the S.K. and Angela Chan Distinguished Professor of Energy at the University of California, Berkeley, is a world-renowned expert in nanocatalysis and nanoparticle synthesis. His research focuses on developing new classes of materials and nanostructures. Yang received the Global Energy Prize in 2020 for inventing a nanoparticle-based solar cell for artificial photosynthesis and was named among the top 10 chemists of the decade (2000-10) by Thomson Reuters. He is the recipient of MacArthur Fellowship, E. O. Lawrence Award, the ACS Nanoscience Award, the MRS and Baekeland Medals, Alfred P. Sloan research fellowship, and more. He also founded Alphabet Energy, a startup that uses nanotechnology to create thermoelectric generators.
