Prof. Edward Sargent
An expert in renewable energy and catalysis, Professor Sargent leads research in quantum dots, perovskite crystals, and carbon dioxide utilization catalysts at Northwestern University. His research group has set world records for using quantum dots to harvest solar energy. Sargent co-founded four startup companies, including CERT Technologies, which won the Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada competition in 2020. Edward has been honored with multiple awards for his research, including a Killam Prize for Engineering, the NSERC Brockhouse Award in Interdisciplinary Research and Engineering with Shana Kelley, and the Steacie Prize in 2012. He is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
