Mattiq Appoints Duane Dickson as Chief Commercial Officer
Dickson to lead Mattiq’s commercial strategy, forging key partnerships with industry-leading chemical producers.
CHICAGO, IL – Sept. 17, 2024 – Mattiq, the clean chemistry company, today announced the appointment of Duane Dickson as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Duane’s decades of experience and vast network in the global chemicals and energy industries will help Mattiq broaden its commercial footprint, build partnerships, and accelerate its mission to decarbonize chemical production.
“Having Duane at the helm of our commercial strategy will launch Mattiq into its next phase of growth,” said Jeff Erhardt, CEO of Mattiq. “Our recent technical advancements have positioned us as the leader in clean chemistry, and we are ready to partner with chemical makers seeking sustainable, cost-effective solutions. Duane brings the necessary industry expertise and vision to build strategic partnerships and capitalize on our opportunities in the sector.”
Dickson brings over 40 years of business and consulting experience in senior leadership roles across major industrial, chemicals and healthcare product companies. Duane retired as Vice Chairman and Principal in Deloitte LLP’s Energy, Resources, and Industrials group, where he led the U.S. Oil, Gas & Chemicals Sector. He also ran the global Energy Resources and Industrials group for Deloitte Consulting globally. Before the chemicals and energy sector merger, he was the U.S. Chemicals and Specialty Materials Sector Leader and also led Global Chemicals & Specialty Materials for Deloitte, Touche, and Tohmatsu Ltd. Additionally, he served as Project Advisor and Chemical Community Lead for the World Economic Forum’s Chemistry and Advanced Materials initiative.
After retiring from Deloitte, Dickson became a Managing Director at Lumevity and joined the Board of Directors of Koloma. He continues to serve on the Advisory Boards of Knowde and The Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies. Until recently, he was on the Advisory Board of The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in India, and was on the Board of Directors and CFO for Societe de Chimie Industrielle. Currently, Dickson is a Venture Partner at Breakthrough Energy, and a Senior Expert at Rocky Mountain Institute.
“The chemicals industry recognizes that emission reductions are now inherently linked to financial performance and long-term success, but they must also navigate an environment with growing costs and expectations among investors for increasing returns,” said Dickson. “Mattiq’s electrochemical solutions and broader materials discovery platform are strongly positioned to enable innovation, growth, and increased shareholder value, while significantly improving climate-focused outcomes. I joined the team because I believe Mattiq will play a critical role in creating decarbonized chemical products. We look forward to building future models for the chemicals and materials companies of the future.”
Dickson’s appointment comes on the heels of Mattiq’s move to a new headquarters at the Fulton Labs campus in downtown Chicago. The new location will accommodate the company’s rapidly growing team and foster collaboration with other deep science innovators in the Chicago tech ecosystem. The move and Dickson’s appointment highlight Mattiq’s expanding capabilities to meet the growing demand for clean chemical solutions.
